Rusedski woe continues as he crashes out down under

Greg Rusedski’s Australian Open campaign is over after he suffered a straight-sets first round defeat to Spaniard Albert Costa at Melbourne Park.

Rusedski is under pressure following revelations he tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone, was comprehensively outclassed 6-4 6-3 6-4 by the former French Open champion.

All Rusedski has to look forward to now is a long, and no doubt bitter fight to clear his name at the ATP tribunal in Montreal on February 9.

The 30-year-old faces a potential two-year ban for the positive test and although he has vehemently proclaimed his innocence, and attacked the ATP in doing so, the process could be long and ugly.
