Lleyton Hewitt has dismissed claims his eight-week lay-off will be a disadvantage heading into the Davis Cup final and vowed to give Australia the start they need with victory over Spanish number one Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Hewitt has dipped to 17th in the world rankings over the last two months after deciding not to compete between Australia’s inspiring semi-final victory over Switzerland and this weekend’s final.
