Former Olympic cycling champion Uwe Ampler has reportedly suffered life-threatening head injuries after being hit by a car while on his bicycle.

Former Olympic cycling champion Uwe Ampler has reportedly suffered life-threatening head injuries after being hit by a car while on his bicycle.

The Bild newspaper reports the 1988 Olympic road racing champion is in an induced coma after he was hit at a crossing in Grimma, located in south east Germany.

Bild said he broke his skull, as well as several other bones.
