Beware wounded Hewitt, warns Australian official
The head of Australian men’s tennis today warned the rest of the sport to “beware the wounded animal” after Lleyton Hewitt became the first defending champion to be dumped out in the opening round of Wimbledon since 1967.
Hewitt took the first set in 19 minutes and appeared to be sweeping to a comfortable Centre Court victory when Croatian qualifier Ivo Karlovic suddenly found his feet and executed a miraculous turnaround.
