Spain‘s Juan Carlos Ferrero won the French Open men‘s singles title today, defeating unseeded Dutchman Martin Verkerk 6-1 6-3 6-2 in a one-sided final.

Clay-court specialist Ferrero, beaten by compatriot Albert Costa in last year‘s final, ensured there was no repeat as he took command of the match from the outset to win his first Grand Slam tournament.
