Hewitt beats Agassi to reach semi-finals
Lleyton Hewitt beat Andre Agassi 7-5, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Masters Series.
Hewitt, ranked number one in the world, and Agassi produced some brilliant and patchy tennis in the match that lasted 1 hour, 41 minutes.
Agassi committed 30 unforced errors and failed to hold his serve five times, while Hewitt committed 29 errors and failed to hold his serve twice in the first set.
"If you're going to beat the best players in the world, you have to play your best tennis," said Agassi. "He outplayed me."
Hewitt will play Fernando Gonzalez, who beat Andy Roddick 7-6, 7-6 in the quarter-finals.
Earlier in the day, eighth-seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero beat Wayne Arthurs 6-4, 7-6, and Carlos Moya beat Rainer Schuettler 7-6, 6-1 to set up the other semi-final.
