Effenberg sets himself deadline
Stefan Effenberg says if he gets no offers to play for a club by next Wednesday, he'll hang up his boots.
After his latest round of negotiations with Besiktas Istanbul fell through, the 34-year-old former Bayern Munich skipper and Champions League winner claims he might leave football altogether.
The former German international has also seen Man City, Benfica, Lisbon and Besiktas fall through this summer - and he appears to have lost hope of finding a club to play for.
"The deadline is next Wednesday. If no offers have come in by then, I will quit," he told German magazine Bild Zeitung.
