Amelie Mauresmo stormed into the Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time and insisted she could shatter the dominance of the Williams sisters.

Mauresmo's reward for beating third seed Jennifer Capriati 6-3 6-2 is a meeting with Serena Williams today.

Mauresmo called her win over Capriati one of the best of her career.

She said: "The sisters are playing very similar to Jennifer's game, which is hitting very hard from the baseline with maybe some better serves.

"But I just take it as it comes. I know I have my chances and that is the most important thing. I'll walk out onto court knowing I can do it."
