Seles passes tough test
Nine-times Grand Slam champion Monica Seles remains on course for a first-ever Wimbledon crown but was taken all the way by unseeded Ai Sugiyama in a fiercely-contested third-round tie.
The former world number one had won three of her four sets this week to love but she dropped her serve three times before grinding out a 4-6 6-1 6-4 victory in a match that lasted one hour 37 minutes.
