Williams blazes her way into second round
Serena Williams stormed into the second round of the French Open with a straight sets win over Martina Sucha.
The 20-year-old American had been due to open her campaign 24 hours earlier but rain washed it out.
The delay had no effect on the number three seed, who took just under an hour to dispose of the Slovakian 6-3 6-0.
Williams hit top gear in only the fourth game of the first set when she fired a superb winning return to break Sucha's serve and wrapped up her first set in 35 minutes.
Sucha had no answer to Williams' power game in the second set.
More is likely to be written about Williams' choice of attire than her performance.
She accepted a request from Puma, her sponsor, to wear the green and yellow colours of the Cameroon World Cup football team. The sportswear company also sponsor the Indomitable Lions.
