Wimbledon: Henman bids to make Wimbledon history
Tim Henman was hoping to make history today by becoming the first British man to reach the Wimbledon singles final since 1938.
His dreams were put on hold yesterday when his crucial semi-final match against big-serving Croat Goran Ivanisevic was rained off.
The rains came at around 6.20pm - in the crucial fourth set - and the covers were drawn across the grass of the Centre Court where 14,000 fans had been enjoying a nail-biting match.
Despite losing the first set against Ivanisevic 5-7, Henman powered back to clinch the second and third sets 7-6 and 6-0.
Play ended with Henman two games to one up in the fourth set, but down 40-30 to Ivanisevic in the fourth game.
The weather was set to be unsettled again today with forecasters predicting a bright start, but a risk of rain by the afternoon.
If Henman, from Oxfordshire, can win today, he will be the first Briton in the men’s final since Bunny Austin’s 1938 appearance.
