Wimbledon: Sampras aims to move up a gear

Pete Sampras, taken to the brink by Britain’s Barry Cowan on Wednesday, delivered an ominous warning to anyone with hopes of wresting his Wimbledon crown next week.

‘‘Come Monday you raise your game a little. If anything I am a little more relaxed than last year,’’ said Sampras after cruising to an impressive 6-4 6-4 7-5 victory over Armenia’s Sargis Sargsian.
