World number one and top seed World number one and top seed Martina Hingis suffered another first round nightmare today as Virginia Ruano Pascual racked up one of Wimbledon’s greatest shocks.
Hingis was hammered 6-4 6-2 by the Spanish clay court specialist in a defeat which echoed her stunning 1999 first round defeat to Jelena Dokic, also on Court One.
