Tennis: Kournikova pulls out of Wimbledon

Tim Henman is a 9-1 fourth favourite to win Wimbledon with bookmakers William Hill following the announcement of the seedings.

Hills make Pete Sampras 15-8 favourite and also offer 3-1 Agassi, 13-2 Hewitt, 9-1 Henman, 12-1 Rafter, 18-1 Rusedski, 20-1 Safin, 25-1 Kafelnikov.

Venus Williams is a 9-4 favourite to retain her Wimbledon women’s title with William Hill.

The firm also go: 10-3 Martina Hingis, 7-2 Jennifer Capriati, 9-2 Lindsay Davenport, 5-1 Serena Williams, 16-1 Jelena Dokic and Amelie Mauresmo, 20-1 Kim Clijsters.

Meanwhile, both Anna Kournikova and Monica Seles have pulled out of the championships.

The 20-year-old Russian is still suffering from a stress fracture in her left foot picked up in February.

Monica Seles has been troubled by a foot injury all season and was also unable the compete at the last Grand Slam event, the French Open.
