Tennis: Hingis through to Dubai final
Martina Hingis beat Tamarine Tanasugarn 7-6, 6-1 in the semi-finals of the WTA Dubai Open tournament.
Hingis broke Tanasugarn in the fourth game of the first set to go 3-1 up, only to lose the next two games.
The number one seed won a tense tiebreaker and took the second set with ease.
"Winning the first set was the key," said Hingis.
"It was hard to get my concentration and keep it. I always have little problems playing in new tournaments."
Tanasugarn, seeded seventh, said Hingis had lifted her game in the second set and was a lot more aggressive.
"When I had three sets points in the first set I had to do something different but maybe I tried too hard," said Tanasugarn of Thailand.
