Rob Heffernan did the nation proud when he finished the sixth in the 50k walk at the Olympics, but his family were left absolutely beaming.

At home in Cork, there was a party at Murphy's Rock Bar, Ballyvolane to watch and celebrate Heffernan taking part in his fifth Olympics.

Our videographer David Keane was on hand to capture the scenes and caught a few words from his father Bobby, sisters Anthea and Rhonda, and kids Megan and Cathal.

Their pride is infectious, and we're sure Rob and all the Irish athletes will be treated to a heroic return when they touch back down in Ireland.
