Coyle provides thrilling finish
Coyle finished 47 seconds behind gold medal winner Laura Asadauskaite of Lithuania.
The Meath woman finished 11th in the fencing at the Copper Box with 19 wins to collect 856 points and was then 15th in the pool with 1,132 points thanks to a time of 2:19.17.
The riding event was Coyle’s best, finishing fifth after losing just 40 points from the 1,200 score as she tallied up just two faults.
“I was 11th in the fence, best I’ve ever fenced, personal best in the swim, really good ride and I’m sure it was a personal best in the combined. I couldn’t have asked for anything better,” she said.
Britain’s Samantha Murray won silver with Brazil’s Yane Marques taking bronze.
