Single sculler Puspure aims to finish in style

Cork-based rower Sanita Puspure yesterday qualified for the Olympic single sculls C final at Eton Dorney.

Puspure was 10 seconds clear of the field in 7:51.59 and advances to Saturday’s race which determines the 13th-18th place rankings in the event.

“Even though I won with a bit to spare, I stayed focused throughout,” she said.

“The cheers of the crowd also helped me, so overall it was a great experience to get the win. I want to win the C final. Obviously I’d rather be in the B final, but maybe I’m not at that standard yet, physically.”
