Gillick: I have more left in me

David Gillick last night declared his intention to continue his athletics career despite being ruled out of the Olympic Games in London through injury.

Gillick: I have more left in me

The 400m specialist missed out on last year’s World Championships in South Korea with a torn soleus muscle and he suffered a repeat of the injury last March before tearing the other major calf muscle, the gastrocnemius, two months later.

All in all, he missed almost three months training at a time of year when most athletes were fine-tuning their preparations for the Games but the 29-year old, two-time European Indoor champion is now looking beyond London.
