Reid’s quest for Siaca fight

Robin Reid has set his sights on a clash with WBA super-middleweight champion Manny Siaca in the autumn.

"I think that fight was really an eliminator for the WBA title so let's get it on now ," said Reid, who claimed the IBO super-middleweight title from Ireland's Brian Magee on Saturday night with a unanimous points decision at the King's Hall in Belfast.

Reid had to overcome a gash on his forehead, which leaked blood throughout the 12 bruising rounds, and saw Magee get off the floor four times, twice in the eighth when he showed incredible courage to survive the Runcorn fighter's onslaught.

Reid admitted he was concerned the doctor was going to stop the fight in the fifth when he suffered his cut after a clash of heads.

"As soon as I felt the blood coming down my face I knew it was bad and I was just saying to myself 'Please don't stop it, not now' because I knew that every time I clipped him he couldn't take it he couldn't take the power."
