Rusedski through to second round

Greg Rusedski is through to the second round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal after defeating Swiss qualifier Stanislas Wawrinka.

On a day when fellow Brit Tim Henman crashed out to Dominik Hrbaty at the first hurdle, Rusedski bounced back from losing the first set to claim a 6-7 (5/7) 6-2 6-3 victory over Wawrinka.

Rusedski will now face Max Mirnyi after the Belarusian upset Fernando Gonzalez of Chile 7-6 (7/5) 6-4.
