Peterson closes in on victory

With two wins in the Hewison Autotest Championship double header at Waterford, Eddie Peterson (Mini Special) has closed to within four points of championship leader, Eamonn Byrne, who drives a Mini Saloon.

Peterson, from Foxrock, Co Dublin was dominant in the 12 tests of Saturday’s ninth round where he was almost 20 seconds ahead of title rival, Byrne.

Yesterday, his victory margin was over five seconds with Byrne again his principal rival. Christopher Evans (Westfield), who remains third in the series, secured two third places.

Meanwhile in Monaghan, Trevor Farrell and Noel Hall (Proton) had a slim victory in the Monaghan Navigation Trial.
