Rusedski faces Federer in Qatar Open

Greg Rusedski will face a daunting showdown with world number one Roger Federer after easing to a straight sets win over Jan Hernych in the opening round of the Qatar Open in Doha yesterday.

Rusedski booked a second-round date with Federer, top seed and winner of 11 tournaments last year, after disposing of Czech Hernych 6-3 7-5.

Earlier, Federer trounced Spaniard David Ferrer 6-1 6-1. Russian Vladimir Tchagin won the truck category stage in his Kamaz to take the overall lead.
