Monkstown regatta begins today

Monkstown and Cork Harbour Rowing Club will run their annual Monkstown rowing regatta at the National Rowing Centre, Farran Wood, Cork today.

The 54-race programme of rowing and sculling, including 42 finals begins at 9am until the last race at 6.10pm.

The Men’s Intermediate eights final at 5.40pm is between University of Limerick BC and Cork Boat Club. At 10.20am, the Women’s Senior Coxless Pairs should be a very interesting between Skibbereen RC, a CIT RC/Clonmel RC composite, NUI Galway RC and Monkstown & Cork Harbour RC; so will the Women’s Junior 18 eights between Cork BC, Carlow RC, Killorglin RC and Clonmel RC.

This is the last big regatta on Irish waters before the Irish Championships in July on the same course.

Next week, Henley Royal Regatta takes place at Henley-on-Thames, England from Wednesday to Sunday.

As always, a sizable Irish entry races at this world famous event.
