The four-time heavyweight champion of the world sank to new depths when being emphatically outpointed by Larry Donald in New York over the weekend.

Epic encounters with Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Riddick Bow were a distant memory as Holyfield suffered his third successive loss and a fifth defeat in his last eight fights.

Calls for him to retire from the most brutal of sports have been growing for what seems an eternity, but it seems that infamous bite from Tyson in 1997 has affected the Real Deal’s hearing. When asked if he would still pursue his dream of a fifth world title, Holyfield replied: “Why not?”
