Brizzel boost for Irish team

The Irish team for this weekend’s Europa Cup in Reykjavik, Iceland has been given a welcome boost by the late addition of National 100m and 200m record holder Paul Brizzel.

Brizzel, who has already achieved the Olympic A standard over 200m is one of 6 changes in the Men’ team including Jer O’Donoghue (Leevale) selected in the 100m, Vincent Mulvey (Raheny Shamrock) in the 3,000m, Rob Connolly (DSD) in the 5000m, Peter Monaghan (DCH) in the 110mH and Paul Crowe (North Down) in the Triple Jump.

The middle distance events on the women’s team also sees a number of changes from last week’s original selection with Roisin McGettigan (Sli Cualainn) now selected in the 3000m, Pauline Curley (Tullamore Harriers) in the 5,000m and Fionnuala Britton (Sli Cualainn) in the 3,000m steeplechase.
