Flying McKiernan defends title

Catherina McKiernan yesterday successfully defended her Adidas Irish Runner Challenge title, knocking 26 seconds off her 2003 winning time, crossing the line in 26:34 in Dublin yesterday.

Sinéad Cummins (29:26) and Jacqueline O’Leary (30:26) were second and third, respectively.

National Marathon Champion, Letterkenny’s Gary Crosson was beaten into second place by Limerick AC’s Tom Carey, who clocked 24:22. Crosson was second in 24:57 with National 10k champion Pat Byrne finishing third in on 25:04.
