Indoor contest for Belfast

THE Irish Indoor Athletics Championships will be staged for the first time at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, on February 15/16.

The meeting, which has been made possible through the generous assistance of the Sports Council for Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Events Company, represents the culmination of discussions with several organisations including representatives of the Odyssey Arena.

Most of Ireland’s top athletes will be in action and the Athletic Association of Ireland will be using the championships as part of their assessment of athletes who will be considered for selection for the world indoor championships scheduled for Birmingham in mid-March.

“The Odyssey Arena is delighted to see a top-class indoor national indoor athletics competition confirmed for Belfast,” Odyssey Arena chief executive, Nicky Dunn, said.
