ICAP Maximus looks set for double glory

FINISHING at 0822hrs yesterday, the 98 foot ICAP Maximus broke the finish line of the Rolex Fastnet race first and faces a 22 hour wait to see if the New Zealand based maxi can also win on handicap as well.

Tuesday’s leader on handicap, the TP52 Patches owned by Ireland’s Eamon Coneely, which has Shirley Robertson and Ian Walker in the afterguard, had until 0602hrs this morning to cover 160 miles in very light breezes to beat Maximus.

The crew of ICAP Maximus were hopeful yesterday, owner Charles St Clair Brown keeping his fingers crossed for the double - to win both line honours and on IRC handicap.
