Boyle sets new Northern Ireland record
Anna Boyle from Ballymena set a new Northern Ireland record when she finished second in the 100m in 11.58 seconds just ahead of Cork’s Ailish McSweeney (Leevale) who was third in 11.73 seconds.
Boyle then won the 200m in 23.73 seconds with Ailish McSweeney fourth in 23.97 and Ciara Sheehy fifth in 24.05.
Derval O’Rourke (Leevale) got her international season off to a flying start when she finished second in the 100m hurdles in 13.39 seconds.
The second national record fell to Taneisha Scanlon from Limerick who won the triple jump with a leap of 13.65m to beat her old record which stood at 13.38.
David McCarthy won the 400m in 47.63 seconds to get his season off to a good start.
