Boyle sets new Northern Ireland record

There were two national records set at last night’s International Track and Field meeting in Bratislava where those competing in the sprint left the selectors with plenty of food for thought in advance of naming the team for the European Cup.

Anna Boyle from Ballymena set a new Northern Ireland record when she finished second in the 100m in 11.58 seconds just ahead of Cork’s Ailish McSweeney (Leevale) who was third in 11.73 seconds.

Boyle then won the 200m in 23.73 seconds with Ailish McSweeney fourth in 23.97 and Ciara Sheehy fifth in 24.05.
