Agassi salutes Roger the Great

ROGER FEDERER had already been elevated to a place among the pantheon of great tennis players even before his four-set victory over Andre Agassi in the US Open final.

But in a frank assessment of the current world number one made by Agassi following his 6-3 2-6 7-6 (7-1) 6-1 defeat, the Las Vegan insisted Federer should be placed at the top of the pile.

Agassi - at 35 the oldest Grand Slam finalist in 31 years - produced some of his best tennis for years against the Swiss star.
