World number one Justine Henin-Hardenne has pulled out of this year’s Wimbledon.

The Belgian did not play for six weeks before the French Open due to a virus and her lack of fitness showed in her second round defeat to Tathiana Garbin.

Henin-Hardenne, who reached the semi-finals last year, pulled out a day after compatriot Kim Clijsters announced she would also miss the championships.
