Ireland’s Paralympic Sonar sailors have won the Tappan Zee Challenge in New York.

John Twomey, Sean McGrath and Brian O’Mahony are the first Paralympic crew to win an Open (able-bodied) Sonar Major, a boost to the trio as they prepare for Athens.

The Tappan Zee line-up included 2004 Open world champion Steve Shepstone and former Open world champion Peter Galloway.
