Powell set for athletics showdown

World 100m record-holder Asafa Powell will go head-to-head with Olympic champion Justin Gatlin at the Norwich Union London Grand Prix on July 22.

The pair ran at the same venue last summer, with Powell setting a British all-comers’ record of 9.91 seconds.

Maurice Greene, Jason Gardener and Mark Lewis-Francis are also taking part.

Powell, who clocked a new world record time of 9.77 seconds in Athens earlier this month, has promised to put on another impressive display for the fans.
