McGuigan honoured with spot in Hall of Fame

The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum has elected former featherweight champion Barry McGuigan to its Hall of Fame.

The Clones native defeated Eusebio Pedroza on June 8, 1985 to win the world featherweight title in Queen’s Park Rangers Stadium in London.

He beat Bernard Taylor and Danilo Cabrera in two title defences before losing the title to Steve Cruz in Las Vegas.

McGuigan had four more bouts before retiring in 1989.
