O’Loughlin ahead

David O’Loughlin won the Murphy and Gunn Shay Elliott cycling event in Co. Wicklow yesterday.

With 25km to go in the 162.6 kms event, O’Loughlin moved ahead and despite the best efforts of David McCann, Malcom Elliott, Mark Lovatt and Rory Wyley, he was never headed. At the finish in Bray, he had forged a 53 second advantage over Elliott, who was representing the sponsors Murphy and Gunn. Lovatt was third ahead of McCann and Wyley.
