Serena eyes olympics

Serena Williams has confirmed that the Olympic Games are still on her schedule despite the security concerns which remain a major issue for the Athens authorities.

Serena eyes olympics

“I’m 100% planning on going to Athens,” said the former world number one and reigning Wimbledon champion, revealing her objection to reports which suggested she was considering skipping the Games.

Speaking after posting a 6-4 6-3 victory over Maria Sharapova, which advanced her to the quarter-finals of the NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami, Williams said: “I woke up this morning and I’m on the cover of USA Today saying ‘Serena is unsure if she’s playing the Olympics’. I never said that, if you look back in my transcripts. I said I was aware of things that happen in the world, and I will not let things that happen in the world stop me from living my life.”
