Tennis wins in Donnybrook

LIMERICK’S Conor Niland and Dubliner Yvonne Doyle lifted the top singles titles when the Spar sponsored Irish National Tennis Championships concluded at the Donnybrook club on Saturday.

Niland was hugely impressive, beating off Dara McLoughlin 6-2 6-0.

The match was among the shortest ever, lasting less than 40 minutes.

Doyle ousted Ann Marie Hogan 6-3 6-4 on the hour mark, but took time to get going. Eventually, Hogan’s inconsistency contributed in no small way to her defeat.
