Drugs ban for Burdekin

LEADING British wheelchair tennis player Jamie Burdekin has been banned for two years after testing positive for cocaine.

Drugs ban for Burdekin

Traces of the drug were found in a sample provided by the 25-year-old during the British Open last year.

The player, formerly ranked in the world top 20, contended his drink must have been spiked during a night out in Liverpool around that time.

Burdekin is considering an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne in a bid to get his ban lifted.

His suspension will rule him out of competitive play until after August 22 next year.
