Seeds uprooted at Roland Garros

Andre Agassi and Mark Philippoussis misfired during opening debacles on the Queen’s club grass yesterday, with both seeds crashing out to outsiders.

An angry Agassi completed a misery run of three straight losses as he dropped two tie-breakers against 20-year-old Russian Igor Andreev 4-6 7-6 (7/2) 7-6 (7/3) in the second round after a bye.

The eight-time Grand Slam champion was dismissed early last month on clay in St Poelten and the French Open.
