Doyle victorious in tennis champions

Elsa Ó Riain put up a brave fight against Ireland’s number one player, Yvonne Doyle, before going down 6-1 4-6 6-4 in the final of the the Danone-sponsored National Tennis Championships at Donnybrook, Dublin on Saturday.

Ó Riain took a middle set and then in a tense final set she was just ousted in the 10th game by the more experienced Doyle. Peter Clarke forgot the disappointment of not being included in the Davis Cup team to meet Ukraine by winning the title for the first time 6-3 7-6 with victory over 17-year-old in James McGee from Castleknock.
