Dakar Rally great Richard Sainct has been killed in a crash in Egypt.

The Frenchman, who won the motorcycle section of the long-distance rally three times, crashed heavily on the fourth stage of the Pharaohs Rally yesterday.

The 34-year-old was killed in the impact and his KTM team withdrew as a mark of respect.
