Ó Riain aiming for tennis upset
Ó Riain, seeded three, was shocked by the number seven seed Lucy Fletcher from Britain. It ended in straight sets for Ó Riain who was broken comfortably in both sets for a 6-4, 6-3 defeat.
She has been given a wild card along with three other Irish girls for next week’s Irish Open where she will be joined by Yvonne Doyle and Karen Nugent in the main draw.
At Templeogue last night Nugent and Doyle went through in straight sets at the expense of Lara Eakhoury and Gallna Misiuriova.
In the main event the number two seed also from Britain, Tom Burn, did not even drop a game on his way into the third round when beating Brian Coleman.
The up and coming James McGee was a straight sets winner and over another visitor in Gregory Svlek 6-4, 6-2.
