Cill na Martra 1-20 O’Donovan Rossa 2-6

A dominant second-half display saw Cill na Martra coast into the quarter-finals of Cork's SAFC.

After ten minutes, O’Donovan Rossa found themselves 1-3 to 0-4 ahead following a fortunate David Shannon goal from a point attempt that dropped short.

Morgan O’Sullivan’s side were 1-9 to 1-5 in front after a dispossession in the Skibb half allowed Ciarán Ó Duinnín to play in Shane Ó Duinnín who goaled.

Cill na Martra won the closing half 0-11 to 1-1 and were comfortable winners as they face Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh in the next round.

Skibb, after three losses, head into a relegation play-off against Clyda Rovers, who lost to Bishopstown.

Shane Ó Duinnín pointed twice inside four minutes to get Cill na Martra up and running but Rossas responded through Thomas Hegarty and Luca Harte.

A Danny Ó Conaill two-pointer had the 2025 senior A finalists 0-4 to 0-2 ahead but Shannon’s goal gave Skibb the lead.

Niall Daly and Elliot Connolly kept the West Cork side in control but scores from Ó Conaill, Dan Ó Duinnín and Seán Ó Foirréidh had the sides level.

That was until Shane Ó Duinnín’s clever finish past Derek Tobin had Cill na Martra 1-7 to 1-4 up on 25 minutes.

Luke O’Sullivan responded for Rossas but Shane Ó Duinnín and Jeaic Ó Loingsigh propelled Cill na Martra into a four-point half-time lead.

Five points on the bounce from the victors effectively ended the game as Ó Conaill and the Ó Duinníns hit the target while midfielders Antóin Ó Cuana and Gearóid Ó Goillidhe proved exceptional at kick-out time.

Skibb registered their first and only point of the second-half through O’Sullivan on 41 minutes but Cill na Martra kept ticking and defenders Seán Ó Foirréidh and Tadhg Ó Corcora joined in on the scoring act.

A late Elliot Connolly goal, orchestrated by Colm O’Driscoll, was scant consolation for a Rossas side who were totally outclassed.

Ó Cuana and Antaine Ó Loingsigh finished off an emphatic Cill na Martra win.
