Kilcummin come good against Glenflesk in extra time to book Kerry IFC final

The sides could not be separated in normal time despite a late attempt for Mikey Casey to win the thrilling contest for Kilcummin drifted wide

Kerry IFC semi-final: Kilcummin 1-18 Glenflesk 1-14 (aet) 

In a repeat of the 2018 IFC final, Kilcummin again came out on top against their East Kerry neighbours Glenflesk, after a hard fought battle in this year’s IFC semi-final, played at a packed Spa GAA Grounds, on Sunday afternoon.

The sides could not be separated in normal time despite the best efforts of Kilcummin's Mikey Casey whose last ditch attempt drifted wide.

It was nip and tuck throughout with both sides trading scores as both fullback lines struggled to shackle their opponents.

Kilcummin led 0-4 to 0-3 at the end of the opening quarter with Paul O’Shea the dominant figure at midfield. Sean O’Leary tormented Glenflesk down the right flank with his pace and power. 

A Casey brace and one each from Cian Foley and Mark O’Shea had Kilcummin in front, while Darragh Roche kicked three beauties for Glenflesk.

In the 18th minute Kilcummin struck for a crucial goal that was set up by Casey and clinically finished to the net by Kevin McCarthy.

However, Glenflesk responded within minutes, Darragh Roche providing the finish to level the contest at 1-4 apiece.

A Seanie O’Leary two-pointer saw Kilcummin retire 1-6 to 1-5 ahead at the short whistle.

The introduction of Matt Keane proved pivitol for Kilcummin, with the . Sean O’Leary gave Kilcummin the lead late on but Tommy Bowler and so to extra time.

Kilcummin dominated extra winning it 0-7 to 0-3 with Philip O’Leary getting 0-4 ouf the seven and that was enough to see Kilcummin reach the IFC final.
