AIB surprised Kerry football legend Kieran Donaghy with a special video tribute to mark the launch of their support for this year's GAA All-Ireland senior football championship.
What AIB admits was initially set to just be a routine interview quickly evolved into an unexpected and heartfelt production celebrating Donaghy's impact on the careers and lives of those around him.
The piece opens with Donaghy sharing his insights into the importance of "backroom support" in sports, before he is surprised with personal messages from a number of important figures as well as career highlights.
Among those sharing their experiences of Donagh’s are former Kerry teammates Darran O'Sullivan and Marc Ó Sé, who spoke of his leadership and dedication.
Basketball and Kerry teammate Mike Quirke highlighted Donaghy's unselfishness and competitiveness. Crucially, others who benefited from Donaghy's guidance and support as a mentor also feature.
Former Armagh Footballer Jemar Hall praised Donaghy's "natural aura, charisma, and unbelievable energy" for helping him and others improve and believe in themselves.
Kerry Footballer Seán O'Shea also contributed, recognising the "brilliant energy" Donaghy brings to the group, highlighting the ongoing influence that Donaghy represents; a representation seen in clubs and GAA communities across the country.
AIB believe the content serves as a testament to their 2026 senior football championship campaign message that "Behind every County are those who lift us all."
The Bank feels it also “illustrates how dedicated individuals, acting as vital backroom support, mentors, and inspirers like Kieran Donaghy, push players on and enable Gaelic Football’s greatest talents to strive for success, ultimately enriching the entire community.”
The content culminates in another surprise as Donaghy's former teammates, coaches and support networks alongside his family and friends celebrate with him in person.
