30 teams set for Páirc Uí Chaoimh celebrating women's sport

There will be 30 teams taking over SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh this summer as the Gaelic4Mothers&Others Festival makes its return.

Following the success of last year’s event, the 2026 festival is shaping up to be another huge occasion with 30 Gaelic4Mothers&Others teams from across Cork and beyond taking part to celebrate women’s sport, wellbeing and community connection on Saturday July 25.

Bride Rovers, Dromtarriffe Dollies and Carrigtwohill Cougars are the host clubs for the festival, which is being organised by Rosaleen O’Brien and run by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.

This award-winning initiative was set up to provide an “innovative and supportive way for women to play Ladies Gaelic Football in a fun, inclusive and non-competitive environment.”

The programme encourages women over the age of 25 to take part, regardless of previous experience, and initiatives such as this have driven significant increases in participation in Ladies Gaelic Football.

In 2026, there are over 600 Gaelic4Mothers&Others teams nationwide, with more than 60 teams in Cork alone.

Speaking ahead of the festival, organiser Rosaleen O’ Brien said: “Gaelic4Mothers&Others is about much more than football.

"It’s about confidence, connection and belonging. Hosting this festival in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh sends a powerful message about the importance of women’s participation and mental wellbeing within our communities.

"We are hugely grateful to Cork GAA, Healthy Ireland in Cork County Council, Cork Sports Partnership, LGFA, Munster LGFA, Cork LGFA & 96FM for their support in bringing this event to Cork once again.”
