For its second staging in a row, Ulster GAA’s competitions control committee has changed the results of Dr McKenna Cup games because of ineligible players.
Two years after Donegal’s win over Armagh was voided because under-age player Finbarr Roarty lined out, Fermanagh’s win over Cavan on Wednesday has been cancelled, while Down have received the points despite losing to Armagh that same day.
The decision comes after there were reported breaches of the third-level policy and regulations.
A statement from the provincial council on Friday afternoon read: “Following a meeting of Ulster CCC, reported breaches of Pre-Season 3rd Level Policy & Regulations were reviewed, and the following decisions taken in relation to the fielding of ineligible players:
“The Fermanagh v Cavan game is null and void and no team is awarded the points. The Armagh v Down game is awarded to Down.”
