St Brigid’s have been handed a boost with the news that Brian Stack and Mark Daly will be fit for their All-Ireland final against Dingle on Sunday week.
Joint-captain and Roscommon star Stack landed awkwardly after colliding with Scotstown goalkeeper Rory Beggan in last weekend’s semi-final while Mark Daly was replaced in the second half. Stack was reported to have difficulty breathing post-match.
Speaking at St Brigid’s All-Ireland final press night, manager Anthony Cunningham said both players are fit to feature.
“They should be fine. There are no breaks. If you broke a bone, god forbid, in your hand or out at training, you would be in bother. While they will be sore, they have knocks, they should be ok.

“Brian’s in particular, he jumped very high and the pitch as well was frozen. Mark Daly’s was a bruising. They are a bit slow but they will be fine.” Cunningham was pleased with their work-rate in Kingspan Breffni as they saw off the Ulster champions by four points.
“Guys worked extremely hard and got into the flow of the game very quickly. They were always going to be tough and difficult, but I think we showed a lot of courage.” St Brigid’s won a 19th Roscommon senior football title after a replay last November. Former Roscommon football and Galway hurling boss Cunningham has watched his side improve consistently since that fixture. He knows they will need to continue that trajectory.
“The fact is we are improving. We have to improve to beat An Daingean. There is no doubt about that. We have to get better again. That is the nature of the last six or eight weeks. We have kicked on from the replay in the county championship. That was great for us.”
