Henry Shefflin has stepped down as manager of Ballyhale Shamrocks just over a year after he began his second stint in charge of the club's senior hurlers.

The 10-time All-Ireland winner led Ballyhale to a first Kilkenny SHC title since 2022 with victory over O'Loughlin Gaels in October. However, they fell short in Leinster, losing to St Martin's in the provincial decider earlier this month.

Shefflin was named Kilkenny U20 hurling manager in September and that was a factor in him stepping down from the club role according to Ballyhale chairman Aidan Cummins.

"Henry is manager of the Under-20 hurling side for the county and is starting a new business so it's understandable he can't maintain everything," he told RTÉ.

Shefflin was first appointed Ballyhale manager ahead of the 2018 season. He led the club to two All-Ireland titles before spending three seasons in charge of Galway.
